What do you think of this wide bordered camo that sold today on ebay?
I dont see them very often not even in ref books or in period photos. Do you think there are legit WW1?

I see no problem at all with this one. US$635.00!!! what a bargain, it also appears to have had a mail home label removed from the top and also note what looks like one area of blue paint. If a forum member purchased it please place your own images. I think this will be a case of a poorly photographed lid turning out as a stunner!

I shyed away due to the photos. They did not make the helmet look good to me and I was not bidding so did not ask for any additional.

              Hi Nzef
I was talking to a couple of fellow collectors about this helmet. The general opinion is it was a bargain.
Its a sign of the economy right now, in better times it would sell for a lot more
but the seller didnt do himself any favors with the poor pictures. I like the colors and the thick black boarders, dont see them too often. I dont anyway.

Man the economy has finally swung in my favor. I am winning most of the things go after for less then expected.

On this helmet I'd have had to see it in person. Did you get it Eric? If yes post some good pics.

And yes I got the repro liner and chin strap some days ago. I already listed the liner for cheap but it did not sell on there e stand and the m18 chin strap does look good don't it? I just don't know how I will mount the side with the rivets I plan to send it to Steffen the leather guy and see if he can re work the rivets onto my liner.

                W.

                  No W,
I didnt bid. I,ve a nervous bidding finger after the Garde! fiasco!
I did ask a couple of questions. Its a W66 (Hermann Weissengerger). The more I look at it the more I like it. Lucky winner. Does anyone else have these helmets in this pattern? I kind of dig em.

If I had spotted it, I would have bid for sure, very rare to find blue on a camo lid. I have seen period colour pictures of Camoed German artillery pieces in similar shades to this lid. Very very nice and as I have said already better images would be great.

                      Yes
Me too, usually on Coast Marine or Coastal Artillery, or those beautiful rare as Chuck would say 'Razzle Dazzle' Camo helmets.

Being a local guy I was offered the helmet before he put it on ebay, but this was the photo I got. Once it was on ebay, I liked it much better, but figured everyone else would too. I was actually going to throw in last minute bid, but when I tried to snipe, I wasn't logged in. So it was just not meant to be.

Eric, aka Nervous Nelly and I had a short discussion on this helmet. Bottom line... someone got one hell of a good deal IMO. Nice rare camo... all three original liner rivets... a killer M16 liner... a partial chinstrap, and named too boot. A good friend of mine was bidding on it so I let it go.
