    Rufus,

Thanks for showing this tunic. You don't often find them in this nice condition.

Just a few comments, if I might. As you may already know, the collar has been altered (during the period) and made into more of a "private purchase" type standing collar. This was often done after a promotion or perhaps to "dress up" a tunic for use as a walking out dress tunic.

The rear belt support buttons/ramps have been replaced. Once again, the originals were often removed for walking out dress tunics, for which they would not be needed. These may have been added back on more recently.

The shoulder straps also appear to be private purchase examples. I say this because of the gabardine (twilled) type material used on the tops and the light gray material on the back side. Normal issue M07 straps were backed in feldgrau.

I have an issue Bavarian Unteroffizier tunic with a similarly altered collar.

Infantry issue tunics of this pattern are extremely difficult to find today, even as they were twenty years ago. The largest collection of feldgrau uniforms ever assembled in the U.S. (over 200 tunics!) had only a very few of these. Hang on to that one! Congratulations!
