I don't have any idea but find it odd an enlisted man is wearing a visored mutz. With the visor they almost look British.

I know it happened because the German Army had no prohibition on it by either officers or Enlisted but I don't think it was common among EM. No matter the case the German army should have put a stop to it among EM for any other reason then they looked like the British with a visor.

I don't thing that the insignia on his cap is of a military nature. I think it is something akin to the flowers one sees in Ausmarsch photographs, that is, just a decoration. Seeing that he is wearing a mourning band on his sleeve, I am assuming that he is home on leave.

Chip, do you suppose the arm band might not be a mourning band? It appears to bear an insiginia. Perhaps Freikorp Swaben, that would explain the Bavarian decoration and cockade.
