Ron that's a fantastic piece of history

imagine that, the Bing brothers making Stahlhelms for the Imperial German Army. proof of the madness that followed...

and what's with the 36 cent postage to ship a 3 pound parcel around the world??? what a bargain!

I want to know, can you still slap postage on a helmet and ship it without a box?
Was any post men tempted to steel one in transit?

                    W.

                            What a beauty, Ron.

One has to wonder back in the WW1 days what all those postmen thought seeing stuff like this pass through their hands without being in a shipping box. I have met a lot of WW2 vets who had stuff pilfered in the mail. One guy in WI who I got several items from even told me the stuff I got from him wasn't the stuff he shipped home. Apparently someone pilfered his boxes, and switched stuff out, as the items he received back home weren't the ones he had originally mailed. Things certainly changed between the two wars!

Thanks for sharing it with us!

                            All the Best,

                            Alan Schaefer

Hope "Stroodle" does not mind me using his picture.

Not all just had labels and stamps stuck on them.

Many were carefully wrapped, but there was no doubt what was inside the wrapping!
