    Life in the Trenches Photographs

I am sure that a lot of you will have good collections of original WW1 photographs of life in the trenches ... please show them ... nationality or location do not matter ...

I make a start with my absolute favourite ... at Arras in May 1917 ... Cheers, Torsten.

    Great new topic Friend,
I,ve personally been looking for MG troops wearing their helmets with the insignia shield. Been looking everywhere for the few I had but I draw the line at ripping up the carpets!! Cant find em.

        MG Crew

I like to take this opportunity to share with you my personal favorite showing a soaked muddy Mg crew manning their gun in a waterfilled Trench. This supreb photograph is from the archives at the US Library of Congress.

wow ... that photo makes you think about all sorts of things that may have been going on there and then ... do you have any further info about the approx date and location the photo was taken? Cheers, Torsten.

            No Torsten
I dont, maybe 17. I love it. The guy waste deep holding the ammo can. The soldier on the left doing something on a little ledge and the gunner in the middle with his filthy sleeves pushed up. Classic.

I think there may be another guy actually manning the MG at the time ... you can just about make out the outline of another Stahlhelm there ... Cheers, Torsten.
