Might be a month before I can pick up my helmet from my collection room an hour away.

        First,

Mike sorry to highjack your thread. I figure it ran it's course and you are set now. Thead drift took us here and I don't want to start a thread on my suspect 70 till I have it in hand.

        Second,

        Eric,

I was looking through my photos and did a comparison. Check this out,

First photo is a verified size 66, it was stamped as such and I ordered a lienr for it based on the stamp.

        Look....

NOw look at this re painted size 68 I used to own. The 68 liner I was to put in my suspect 70 but did not fit ended up in this helmet. I had to tap it in with a hammer and wood dowel mind you. Note how it seems to be more space between the pad fingers then the size 66 above.

(This one was sold on the e stand to Ken at German Helmets Inc and he re furbished it for sale to a customer. INside was good but that was it. )

NOw look at the space between the fingers in the suspected size 70. When looking at them all one after another it seems that there is a pregression in progress with the space size in the center. It's not conclusive but what do you think?

No problems...it's been a great learning experience. That 70 is a bucket. Wouldn't want to meet the soldat wearing that!
