    Need help identifing dress epaulettes

We have had these several years but know little about them. We ahve been told they belong to the German Empire era and wore by a higher ranking officer. Based on what I have seen on this site, they maybe Prussian. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I could not figure out how to put the pictute in the post, so I tried the link.

    Thanks

Thanks for your help. I have a couple more questions if you could help.

The ones we have, have bullion fringe and the one on the link you gave me does not have the fringe. Does this represent "more" rank?

Also, based on your link these were worn 1914-1918.

      Thanks again
      Steve

Company grade officers, Leutnant, Oberleutnant, Hauptmann/Rittmeister, had no fringe on their epaulettes. Field grade officers, Major, Oberstleutnant, and Oberst had fringe. General officers had a heavier, thicker fringe on theirs.

Of course they're worth something, but usually they're sold in matched pairs and you've got one Major and one Oberstleutnant. I wouldn't really know about their value. I just did some Web surfing and I saw a single Hauptmann's epaulette being sold for around $240, but that seems high to me. Pairs were being sold by the same vendor for $347. Perhaps I'm wrong though, as I said I don't really know what they're worth.

The particular page I was looking at was

                http://www.saxoniamilitaria.com/Uniforms.html

scroll down a bit and you'll see several dress epaulettes for sale.
