M16 Camo on ebay even Ken does not know if it's good.

The close up photos of the paint are interesting. The dark blue/green underneath suggests a Marine Infantry (Marineinfanterie) or maybe Matrosen.
That would explain the cracking and peelling of the paint with a later wartime season recamo.

Interesting. I've never seen a navel infnatry helmet other then in photos so can't comment. I just see a lot of good age and also like you say seems to have been repainted or touched up in some way.

What do you make of the shield?
