Looks like an Austrian shell, do you have pics of the inside?
There should be the maker and size on the inner side and eventually some numbers on the top, outside.

Agreed a nice looking piece. The helmet markings "cas" goes for the maker C.A.Scholtz with size 66.
If not faded away, sometimes you can find also a big square black ink marking on the left inner side.
