    1880 Cartridge Pouch

Hello This is an 1880 marked pouch. It is stamped Walther Burgmann Strassberg. Thanks for any help on the stamped markings. The date looks to be 1880 and F.A.R. ?? I think 10. It was remarked F.A.R. 15. Kirby

                Hi

The pouch on the left is a US Civil War era pistol ammunition pouch worn by officers and mounted troops armed with those weapons. I believe they came
in two sizes, one for .36 caliber and the other .44 caliber.

That is a really clean 1874 pattern German ammunition pouch, congratulations...

Hello Larry Thanks for the information. I thought the one might be Civil War. I found some on the US forum. Kirby

You're most welcome, my pleasure. I can't over the condition of the German pouch, still in the brown, never dyed black. As you know these are typically found "rode hard and put away wet", yours is certainly a clean one.

I find it interesting that Manf used white leather for the straps. I wonder if the leather was salvaged from a white belt or something. Thanks for sharing

                        Hi Klr,
The ink stamp in the lower left FsAR 10. Is for Foot Artillery (Fussartillerie) Regiment Nr 10.
                        Congrats, beautiful pouch!
