Where,s Williiam when you need him?

    Eric.
You'll be fine Eric. There is nothing wrong with these pads found in the German M17, however; there has been MUCH debate amonst the Italian's whether they're legit in the M17 Austrian helmet.

It's a desirable helmet Chris, but if you want to show a Minenwerfer item, I think you need to show us some pics of the unit and ID markings...

I'm back! Sorry I was visting the folks an hour from here and spent some time with my collection and took some stuff out to sell. A few firearms and a camo I'll have up soon.

So I see nothing wrong with the nice M17 posted. As for white pads in an M16 it's rare but does exist and I think we all agreed the Germans used parts till they were gone before going to the new stuff and wasting anything.

Some of you may remember this liner I have. It's legit as there was no evidense of re sewing at all.

            Hello Adler 1,

ebony was have a real challenge getting a good image because the writing has become faint due to all the nuts & bolts etc being on top of it for so many years.

Post 20 is about the clearest and I know it is not clear via a computer but you can see his rank "Gefrt" & name one line then the beginning of his unit "M.W.Komp" on the next line in that picture number 18.

Will try and post a clearer image just as soon as I work out how because it is a case of get the marking in the right light at the right angle but when one does then one can read all I have written in post 1 clearly.

Have quite a bit of stuff from Minenwerfers and several are still on display here in NZ so this helmet with that marking was a real find.

            Best regards, Chris
