      Wow. Thanks for sharing these beauties Chip. Interestingly, none of yours have the black border around the perimeter of the shield, which I've always assumed was one of the more common versions. It's facinating to see the minor variations on these 3 helmets.

        Here are two more. The first, a T.J. 66 M16, has only the shield and no company number on the back. The shield has been touched up, and the earlier black bordered version can be seen underneath the later unbordered overpaint. This becomes clear when you look along the top and right edge of the shield.

              This one has been posted on the forum more than once, but it's a good comparison to Chip's camos on which the shields have either been painted around or reapplied over the camo. Here, it's been simply painted over and left as is. The version here is bordered. Again, no trace of a company number on this one.

              The helmet is a size 64 Kerkmann.

                      It's great to see that last helmet. I had not seen it before. This fits nicely into the time-line of the shield/camo painting. Is that your helmet?
