    Identification of item needed

    I have come across this item which I think might be an Imperial helmetplate, but I could very well be wrong. Any opinions welcome, and if genuine an idea of value would be useful.

    A view of the reverse. I should have said that the 50p piece in theb previous picture was to give an idea of size.
