WWI Prussian Officer's Pickelhaube Spiked Helmet

WWI Prussian Officer's Pickelhaube Spiked Helmet in very fine condition minus one kokarden and correct tall spike (EM spike is included)...Hole for badge in wappen eagle plate...Brass chin scales are intact including buckle...I did not pull the lining apart to check marking since it's fairly stiff...Original carrying case is also included... Is there any way to tell what badge goes on the eagle plate???
Please email me at edhicks82@aol.com. Thanks, Ed

                  Hello Ed,

I would think that a Reservist Cross is what is missing.

The Pickelhaube is, in all respects, a standard Line Oficer version. Upon completion of active service, it would not be unusual, consequent upon their transfer to the Reserve list, for the officer to have the cross added. I myself have one of these in my collection and it is, in all respects, identical to yours (although not in as good a condition).

                  Best regards,

                  Hugh

I think holes for a Landwehr cross would be much closer together. Reservisits always wore their crosses low down on the tail. I would imagine that there was a start-burst with state insignia on it...
