Does anyone out there have any examples of Imperial wood scabbards that they would like to share? I have heard they exist, but have never seen one. Any help would be great. Thanks, Martin

I collected Imperial German bayonets for a couple of decades and never saw or heard of one with a scabbard made of wood. They did issue experimental scabbards made of a bakelite type material in about 1908 for both the S98/05 and S98 bayonets to see if they could replace the leather ones. They were not adopted.Of course, anything is possible and maybe a few wood scabbards were experimented with.
