    Kaiserliche Marine Frock Coat

The Naval officers coat for whatever reason are even more difficult to come by than their caps themselves IMO. I've been looking for one for roughly 5 years now.
When this came to me all of the original buttons were removed and replaced with civilian buttons and worn for everyday use which is not uncommon throughout history.
What makes this special is that the name of the lieutenant and date 1911 are in the coat both on the inside pocket and the neck area.

At any rate I just thought I'd share.

Fortunately, the buttons are not impossible to find. Thanks for showing your items. I collect enlisted navy pieces and there is not much that is real easy to get. I am still in search of a gray cotton sailor's cap. Talk about tough to find and expensive!

No doubt about the buttons. As far as the grey cap? Those are tough as nails to find

Given the cut and length of the coat, I'm inclined to think it's a Mantel (overcoat) rather than a Frack. Here is my Leutnant zur See frock coat for comparison:

                Congratulations on a great find!

                  Hi Charles
I would probably agree with that statement given the fact that there is a lack of rank devices. At any rate I enjoy it just the same. Beautiful coat you have there BTW

I do have one question. Kriegsmarine officers wear a dress belt on the outside of their winter coats, did Imperial officers wear them as well? I have only one CDV of an officer in his winter coat and he isn't wearing a dress belt
