    Picklehaub Sheild

Picked this up today with a whole pile of stuff, it's a real nice one, my question is can anyone help me ID the unit this came from, the sheild reads: Hohenfriedberg 4 June 1745 . Thanks

It's not for an infantry pickelhaube, but for a kurassier helmet, specfically, the
2nd Kurassiers, famous for their charge at Hohenfriedburg against the Austrians in 1745. Any photos?

Bob, here is a pic of it, both studs are present on the reverse as well as the nuts.

Looks like the correct one for the 2nd Kurassiers; too bad the helmet didn't come with it! It should have some value, but I have no idea as to price. If you want to sell it, I would check dealer websites like Helmut Weitze, or Saxonia Militaria; they may have similiar items.

I did a quick check at saxoniamilitaria.com, and he has quite a few imperial headgear plates, with many priced at $400 +. I would think that your plate would be a valuable one.
