MAUSER C96 holster + leather fittings: please opinions!

    <style></style>
    Hello,
Please, since dated 1918, would like to ask for further confirmation of originality of this set, before estand. More pictures here! MANY THANKS in advance!

From the pictures you've posted it looks great.

I would like to see more of the stock and the fitting of the iron to the stock.
There should a nice tight fit with no unsightly gaps. Contrary to another WAF member, Mauser took pains to do the job correctly.

If the fitment of the iron to the stock is not perfect, still little to fear as here in the US, for many years, an unregistered stock and iron in combination with the pistol was illegal. In several instances that I'm familiar with, irons were separated from their original mated stocks and were lost to the sands of time. Irons would pop up from time to time and be put together with a stock missing an iron resulting in mismatched and somewhat ill fitting irons to stock finish. Happily BATF came to their senses sometime ago and permitted legal ownership of pistols with the complete stock

Again, it looks to be a nice item.

      Cheers,

      Ramon

        Daniele,

Is it possible to see close up photos of not only the iron, but the other hardware (the hinge, both inside and outside) as well?

You might want to obtain saddle soap and treat the leather. Being an organic material it can dry out and develop irreparable cracks. Saddle soap is a recognized excellent treatment as it does not stain the leather. Stay away from neetsfoot oil and the like for this type of collectible.

Again, all looks to be a nice item.

        Ramon
