I was offered an M17 steel helmet today that has been altered by having the two protruding bolts ground off. Was this something that was sometimes done, or just the work of same Nimrod? If it's a defacement, any chance it can be restored?

No photos - I will likely never see it again. It was painted gold, then black, with a liner in it from an old plastic hard hat. A real mess.Comment
