Greetings from Historic Zoar Ohio!
Snuck out of work today to browse a local antique shop. Picked up two lids.
The first lid that I am showing is a M18 that was painted black, has no leather or chinstrap and was priced at $85. It does have the rivets and metal liner band.
My intentions "were" to strip the paint by bead blasting, repainting in correct color and installing new liner pads and new made carbine clip strap from PFL Co. figuring the helmet was a lost cause.
The black paint appears to be a modern Krylon or "cheap" modern paint and thought I would see what effect Goo Gone would have on removing the black paint to unveil what lie underneath. Well, let's say my plans have changed.

I will provide more photos as the work progresses.
Enjoy the spring weather,
Mark Gaynor
