    Strange Pickelhaube

    This auction ended on ebay recently and has puzzled me. I did not bid on it because I was not sure and thought it would sell for me than it had.

    It has red band and Prussian Kokarde on front and look like other Pickelhauben. It also has older cross-shaped base for Spitze. Any idea what it is or what missing badge is? The seller says Polizei but Polizei Pickelhauben are different.

    I believe that the red stripe around it signifies a fireman.

        Interesting, I have not seen a early German Firemans Picklehaube with a red strip (is it a rank stripe?) or what looks like a place to mount a spike. A side picture would be nice. Mike
