Believe they are for the Gewehr 88 if I am not mistaken.

Just noticed that the bottom two are a matching set. Is it safe to say they are the very first type of pouches for the G88 with that 1888 date? Also what does this unit designation mean: 124 R. W.L.B.U. ?

Albert,

The two unit marked examples (M74/87) are the most commonly seen. The kidney shaped M87/88 was modified to carry Gewehr 98 clips and was used during the WWI. The "square" cartridge box is a M89 and is the most desireable of the grouping.
