Where are the Moderators of this forum's section?

I just kinda noticed the mods have not posted here in a while. I did a search and I could not find any post more recent then 2006 but I might have missed something.

So is it me or are the mods AWAOL? I would like to think mods would be the guys who answer posts when no one else will and keep things interesting. They should know a thing or two about the sections subject matter.

So I've not been here that long myself am I off base here?

Appears they have both posted a few times in 2009

      AWAOL?
      AWOL is the correct spelling.

You're in the USA, you get no english spelling freebies or handouts.

If you don't like my spelling now you should have seen it before I got on the net. But most of my spelling errors are really just typos.

Anyway the mods posted in 2009 in what forum? I did not see any here. I'd really like this forum to improve. More WWI helmet fans and more activce moderators would be nice too. I don't recall either mod ever posting anyone's forum section related posts or questions.

I think I'd make a good mod in general sure. I believe moderation should involve gently pushing folks to get along rather then just cracking down. They call it "moderation" for a reason. You keep the discussions moderate and don't let em go out of bounds. Crack down when one must but other wise just try to set an example and urge folks to get along and meet each other half way. Play devils advocate to achieve this when needed too. But that said this forum has really self moderated for some time, it's a good bunch of guys here. We got a little something they don't over in the WWII helmet section with the added plus of no egos to muddy things up.

But for this forum I am not the top dog helmet man. I'd defer to Chuck and Hans any day.

Whether you are talking about steel helmets or Pickelhauben, there are other forums that cover those subjects pretty well.

I agree that the moderators seem to have disappeared to a large extent. This section was started with much enthusiasm, as the medals section just did not seem to satisfy the needs of all the imperial German militaria collectors who were visiting this site. In many respects, it has never really taken off and gets only a fraction of the posts that the medals section gets.

There are just a handful of American forums that cover this area of interest and everyone has to find the one that best suits their personal needs. I visit this site only a few times a month because there is just not a lot going on here. But to each his own. The French and German forums are excellent, even if you don't speak a second language, you can still get a lot from the Data Banks, where all the photos are stored in various categories. I am a moderator on one such German forum and it has a very good Data Bank, which is constantly growing.

                      Regards,
                      Chip

I don't frequent this site much any more, but for what it's worth, I saw your posts and I agree with you, so I just "resigned" as the moderator. Good Luck.

Hey Thanks. I guess you could have given me an infraction instead
Sorry your interest has waned. I am going to try to get some more WWI helmet men to sign up but then I guess we might need more moderation.

Good luck Dave, wish I was here when you more active.
