    Picklehaube plate, please help identify

Greetings: I have a chance to purchase this picklehaube, but according to the helmet plate am not sure exactly what it is. Could it be Prussian? Does the chinstrap look like a repo? Would it be in the same price range as a German picklehaube ($500.00) ? All replies ,comments and information that would help identify it and it's approximate value is greatly appreciated . "Thank you"
    Best Regards

              Hi, Zeke,

A Prussian picklehaube would be a German one, since Prussia was part of Germany. The plate is an enlisted Garde Wappen. The chinstrap looks pretty new to me, but I'm no expert.

The stamp you show is from the Bekleidungs Instandzetsung (B.I.A.) of the IV Korps. The "f" means the helmet is rated Feldbrauchbar or field serviceable. Usually there would be a stamp elsewhere on the back visor that shows which regiment the helmet belongs to. You can learn more at Joe Robinson's great site http://www.pickelhauben.net/articles/DepotMarks.htm

I have no idea about price.

And with those markings, it has been repaired/refurbished (during the period), so you might want to check for extra holes in the leather behind the front plate. It might be that any repairs are undetectible, but it is worth looking into.

                Regards,
                Chip

                  Hello,

A good Model 1915 Guard Pickelhaube.

                  No problem with it.

The Prussian cockade is on the wrong side, and the Imperial one is missing.

                  Best regards

                    Picklehaube

Greetings : I would like to thank all of you who responded to my need for assistance. The information you provided is greatly appreciated. I am able to purchase this picklehaube for $500.00. Would that be a fair price. Any other opinions as to whether or not the chinstrap is original?
                    Regards
                    Zeke

These go in the $800 to $1000 range depednign on condition etc.

I think $500 would be fair

Thanks James. I am on the same line of thought as you, and being I am unsure of the originality of the chinstrap and missing kokarde, plus some deterioration, I thought $500.00 is fair. I appreciate your consideration by replying.
