liner- I need some opinions

Hello! A friend of mine is wondering if this liner belongs to M16 helmet. It is made from aluminium and is attached with certain aluminium rivets (hooked aluminium tapes). The liner has not such holes for sewing a leather as liners for helmet M17 and M18 has. Is this perhaps some kind of German version after ww1? Thanks in advance.

Much better photos are needed. The one photo that's about the size of a silver dollar will not get the opinions you ask for. The leather might have a chance, but, the aluminum liner band and rivets are not part of the WWI German M16, M17, or M18 liner system.

Based on that one photo of the backside I don't have a clue what it is, or who made it. It is not an original WWI German liner for the steel combat helmet.
