Can anyone please tell me if this visor is a WWI German's or a WW2 Japanese's? It's in a poor condition and it's missing 2 cockades. If any one has a picture of the hat with the cockades please post so I can see how they look like. Thank you in advance! Lonny

Lonny,
Even thought the Feldgrau color and material at first looks correct for Imperial M10, that visor pattern is not found on an army cap, the red piping 'bead' at the bottom of the red band is never there (it is always at the top of the band), and the red color under the band and the air grommets are not correct for an Imperial M10 German cap.

It is put together out of parts. I think the bill was luftwaffe. The rather crude hand stiching attaching the bill turns me off completely. The hand stiching for the leather sweat band does not insipre me either. I am not certain what the top was originaly but there is no way that this cap is Imperial German. I wouldn't buy this cap with somebody elses money. Actually I wouldn't take it if it was given to me.

I agree, it could be put together, or a costume piece. But here are a really wierd suggestions...IF it's real...While the cap looks German in color, it's styling looks Japanese. Enemies during the first war. With the bead on the base of the band, you could say that the style also looks 1910 period American/Mexican.
Any possible way this could be a cap tailored for a German on detached duty with the Mexican Army during the 1910-18 revolutionary period? Many German advisors were in Mexico at that time. Not likely, but just a thought.
