Austrian M16???

I was at a little local general antiques fair this morning and saw this helmet, I guess it is an Austrian M16, unfortunately the liner has long since rotted away, can't find any stampings, but there is alot of the original paint left, anyway the guy who had it wanted 20 quid so I got it ..... Question
1.There are two little holes on the right side what were they for??
2.Was it worth ******163;20

I think its one of the many Afghani helmets beeing bought back by the troops .The Afghaneeeeeees bought a load of surplus ww1 lids and used them untill the seventies I believe,Rob

And the Austrian badge goes on the otherside whilst the Afgannnnnnnneeeee badge goes on the side with the little holes on your one.Still well worth 20 notes.Rob
