    been offered this for £180.
the helmet is marked k64 and stamped in the dome but is hard to read, the camo has light rust coming through in areas but i thought the price was good.

Hello. IMHO - leave it alone. This istn't an original camo helmet, but a sloppy attempt to deceive.

                    Hi Prussian gaurd,
that price is to good to belive ! but the camo colours lack depth and i would advise that you leave it well alone, as with previous comments most probaly a moder attempt to camo,

I would leave it alone. The paint does not look 80+ years old. Regards, Ron.

If you really like that helmet I would have an expert look at it. I would not personally buy that one without verification. Ditto on what the others have said and I add, no wear on the back liner pin. I have a helmet with rust coming through the paint too. But my helmet is bad. Not period done. So rust coming through paint is no guarantee. If a helmet artist does it right he can use an already rusty helmet and cause this to happen. Post war of course.

Also it's an M16 not an M18 Helmet.

thanks for the info guys.ww2 lids are my speciality but you have to have the father of the steel helmet in your collection.im going to take it to a dealer in london and see what he thinks,if the paint is fake is there any chance the original paint could be underneath.

Doubtful anythig of note is under the new paint. The helmet is messed with, liner cord is new. I doubt the liner is original to the helmet. Chin strap is bad. Has all the bad points to avoid in a helmet.

I don't like very much this helmet!
Paint look like a modern nitro varnisch, the chinstrap is it a copy (leather not is right) Some one damage an original m.16 helmet with a bad camo!!
