Battlefield Relics

I like this kind of stuff and thought I would post pics. The helmet is a "square-dip" found in a bunker in the early 60's on "Le Morte Homme" (Dead Mans Hill) about 8 miles from Verdun. The shell fragments and wire were found in a ploughed field in Ypres by my brother in 1986. Hope you like them. Ron

Great stuff Ron. I'd treasure that helmet or those other items alot more than any minty helmet found on a dealers site.

Its has that "undoubtedly" raw originality to it that you can't describe

I too have a small collection of WWI battlefield relics and I treasure them. Something about an artifact from one of those terrible battles -- Verdun, Ypres or the Somme -- that just links past and present.

And the battlefields themselves have such a haunting allure!

Nice helmet


I have ton's of grounddug items myself, then again I'am only living 20 km from Diksmuide and 40 km from Ypres.

Again nice helmet, never part with it
