    Eric thanks for your very helpful reply & pix, i just had another look at my M07, even took it out the cover for a look around the flask body but no markings to be found anywhere, had a look round the cap, rim,neck with my loup still no markings to be seen, any explanation for this?

      Sorry Scott,
      They used allsorts post war. Maybe post on a WW2 thread. Could be something HJ used, sorry.

          Eric well i took another look but no markings to be found at all, i have this genuine period M07 canteen which is unmarked, just makes me wonder why it was never used during ww1, or was it used & just simply never stamped?, i guess we will never know the answer.

            To my knowledge, M07 canteens were not used in any period after they were replaced in 1915. Unmarked examples are just as common as marked ones, perhaps more-so. Though yours has attributes of an issued M07 (the cover with the Prym snaps), non-issue type covers are found on these canteens, with different shades of felt and plain button snaps. I think you can be confident that yours is a WWI era canteen. I don't think it can be proved otherwise.
