Seeking information on a WWI German Biefeld bayonet

    Hi,

I wonder if anyone could help me. I just purchased a WWI German Bierfeld bayonet. At least that's what I was told. The handle and hilt looks identical to the Mauser butcher blade bayonet I have. The blade of course is much smaller (9.5" long). It is indeed stamped Bierfeld on the blade, but no date or other stampings except on the hilt where 99 is stamped. Do you happen to know anything about this bayonet or manufacture? Or can point me in the right direction. I can't seem to find anything on the internet about it.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Dennis, Probably one of the “ersatz” bayonets, many of them were acquired after the war by Turkey which was a WW I ally of Germany. With many of them being cut down by the Turks. So I think it’s very much a guessing game at this point without an image or two such as Jeff suggested. Regards, FP
