    Navy Donald Duck cap

Hello All, I have been tryingto find a little info on those 'Donald Duck' style navy caps. Seems like there either isnt very many out there or there not popular at all. Even the dealer sites dont have any. Can anyone tell me a ballpark figure for an Imperial one vs. Wiemar. Average condition. I would like to get one , but want to do a little info gathering first.
    Thanks

Well of course it depends what condition it is in and the rarity of the captitle. I would say you should be able to to get one in average (VG) condition with a non rare cap title for $250 to $350. White top would be much higher. As far as finding one, your best bet might be ebay deutschland which is the German ebay. You could probably get a much better deal there as well. They come up there fairly regular. Just do your homework first and know what to look for so you do not get stuck with a fake.

      bubi,

You will also need to decide if you want to go after an issue or a private purchase cap. The private purchase caps are more regularly seen, as they could be taken home when one's service time was over. I prefer issue pieces myself and have one of each, that is, one blue and one white. I'm still looking for a gray canvas example (yeah, I know, good luck with that!).

Either way, look for period issue markings or linings with imperial maker's marks. It's not impossible to fake these, but chances are good that such things would be an indication of originality. Best of luck.

Chip, let me know if you find two of those.
