    Help Indentifying Regiment

I picked up an Ueberrock at a local flea market today and need help indentifying some of its fine points. I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to the myriad possibilities of pre-1914 uniforms.

Briefly this is the standard officer's dark blue, double breasted uniform coat (like a frock jacket) with high red collars and red lapel facings. It has two rows of 6 plain gold buttons (one missing unfortunately) and the shoulder boards are piped in light blue with the numbers "69" on each of them.

Anyone know which regiment this is?

    Thanks for the help,

    Dave

Well, I'm not much of an expert, but my guess is it belongs to 7. Rheinisches Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 69. Perhaps someone more knowledgable will jump in soon.

You were dead-on for your identification. I.R.69 was part of the VIII. AK, was raised in 1860 and was garrisoned at Trier.

      Regards
