    New tunic from a trade

    Hello All,

I recently received this in a trade a while back and thought I would post it for the forum. Thanks to Dave Mosher... it has been identified as a Landweher Cavalry officers M15 waffenrock......... Way out of my area of expertise......

                Hey Dave

Thanks for this... can you post a larger close up of the two waffenrock tunics ?

                Cheers

                    Hey Dave,

Thanks.....It appears that the shoulder board in your picture has a number '2' on it for the '2nd Armee corps'... The shoulder boards on my tunic have nothing on them...... but it appears that they may have had something at one time......

Any idea as to what would have gone there ?

                    Cheers

                      Mark,

The only difference between uniforms of the various corps (except the guard corps) was the strap number, so any one of the corps numbers will do.

                        Hey Chip,

                        Thanks for this........

Question.... Did every Corps have a Landwehr regiment.... or only a few ? I also understand that the Cavalry Landwehr was basically a 'catch all' and a mix of the other distinctive regiments (i.e. one L.R. could be made up of Hussars mixed with Uhlans mixed with ???)

If so.... I wonder if they ever tried to wear any of thier distinctive insignia with thier Landwehr uniforms to set them apart...

                        Is that correct ?

                        Cheers
