Iron Cross Ring For Your Review

I have had this ring for well over twenty-five years. My grandmother wore it as a younger girl and it has some serious wear. It was her uncle's ring from WWI. It has markings on the inside. They look like D.R.P.M. over 53190. There is something else - a maker's mark or something - but I can't quite make it out.

I'd like to know more. What can you tell me?

    Thanks in advance.

Neat ring I took the liberty of tweaking your scan to show it better. Is the Cross enameled?

The cross and ribbon are enameled.

I really did not "find" it. Rather, my grandmother gave it to me. I wish I knew more about it. She passed away in 1990. She gave me the ring when I was young, maybe 13.

            Emo,
A very nice and unique ring, I have never seen one like it. It appears to be genuine silver and these type of rings were purchased and worn by the soldiers and or their family. I have always believed that an EK ring signified that the wearer had received the EK, but this is probably not always true. Can you tell me what the design is around the ring? I cannot quite make out what it is supposed to be. There were probably hundreds of different designs of patriotic rings sold in Germany during the war. This would be one of the better quality ones in its time. Cherish it for what it is, a family heirloom and a really nice piece.

Emo - bad choice of words; my apologies . How about "nice heirloom."
