      I see the one boy in the 3rd image down that you posted has a damaged wappen on his helmet. The legs/feet of the eagle have been broken off, probably in playing war very hard!

      I love the cannons. I made one with a set of old steel wheels when I was a boy growing up on the farm, and had loads of fun playing with it.

            The writing at the bottom states that it is the boys' section of the children's sanatorium in Salzuflen in 1919. So everything they have to play with is surplus "junque" of a bygone era. Reminds me of going to a surplus store in the 1950's and stocking up WW 2 GI stuff. Once I scored a first model DAK pith helmet for 50 cents. No shields though.

              I see why you think it's 1919. But, I'm pretty sure it's 1912, which would make more sense given all the Imperial uniforms.

                The bottom stroke looked like a date "fill in the blank", but now I see it's actually penned ink 1912. The uniforms remain surplus for the ages.
