Here are some shots of the Busby that Tom and I bought last week:

    Ron.

Nice enlisted man's of the 1st Leibhusaren.

The bandeau is not the correct type (gilded bowed - should be silvered and arched) but it was not unknown for the wrong bandeau to be fitted to these at the time.

The one below is an NCO's one from the 2nd Leib I picked up in Berlin this year and shows the regulation bandeau. Just click on it to enlarge.

In my opinion, 19 out of 20 supposed "Leib" Pelzmützen are line Busby that some bozo has slammed a skull onto. This happened with my line Pelzmützen to HR14, so now this nice Pelzmütze has an extra set of holes under the Bandeau. The Leib regts are rather unique, in that the Bandeau was placed very high on the body to accommodate that monster Totenkopf. A glance at the holes on the interior will reveal if there are any tell-tale "spare" set of holes from the Bandeau before it was moved up to give room for the Totenkopf. I know I would love to find a Leib Pelzmütze, I have yet to find a real one.

Although as Robin eluded to, photographic evidence shows the occasional "wavy" Line pattern Bandeau on a Leib Pelzmütze, they would have been silver to match the buttons and fittings. I really cannot see a gilt bandeau as that goes completely against the color regulations for these Regts. The link below will take you to a page which lists all the Husaren regts with uniform details for future ref. Actually, Robin kindly allowed me to use a photo of his for it. http://www.kaisersbunker.com/pt/pelzmutze.htm

And Robin.......... Yowzers! You had mentioned this one!

Thankyou for your comments. When Tom and I bought this piece with the collection we had reservations. We didn't like the fit of the skull, the color of the top and the badge, but all appeared to be original. As we mainly bought the entire collection for the daggers and swords, the rest went with the sale.
We will be selling the pieces, but, as we are not experts in this field, we will be at the mercy of the buyer.
