    Pr. Colberg 1807 Spike Helmet

Here is a Pr. 1807 Colberg Spike. Can anyone tell me anything about this piece? Which unit and where the Colberg 1807 banner comes from?

    Hello Ron.
    Helmet belongs to
    Grenadier Rgt. No.9
    Colberg Gren.Rgt. Graf Gneisenau (2.Pommersches ) No.9
    Garrison Stargard.
    1.and 2. Bataillions raised 1717, Fuselier Btl. raised 1806
The "Colberg 1807" battle/Honour bandeau was bestowed in Oct.1849 to commemorate the epic defense of Colberg (modern writing "Kolberg" ) in 1806/07 against Napoleon I . The defenders were in part led by Graf Gneisenau and the lord mayor, Captain Nettlebeck. The civian inhabitants pitched in to defend their town against the invaders.

BTW: in 1945 , in the closing months of the war a movie in color was made having this same subject to bolster the war enthusiasm mainly of the German population.

      ThankYou Herr Holst

As usual, Herr Holst has come to my rescue and, as we have corresponded and conducted business in the past, his information is always helpful and appreciated.

Take a good look at the reverse of the plate- I've seen some excellent copies of this particular plate lately...

          Hello,

The movie is great. I saw it on Arte a couple of years ago and liked it very much.

Helmet has been in the same collection since the late 1960s, so I know it is at least from that era and if the plates are from the last few years, it would have been too old for that fake.
