    Colonial buckle

    Got these recently a large Colonial which is my first ,and a standard imperial with long winded registration mark , Rob

    Hi Rob,

    Great finds, congratulations!

    I especially like that pre-1895 Navy/Colonial buckle. I think this was the so-called 3rd style crown, but I'll have to look in my reference book to see for sure. I have a so-called 2nd pattern crown example in my collection.

    The private purchase Model 1895 D.R.G.M. marked buckle seems to be harder to find these days as well.

        yes , the colonial one - pre 1895 or kind of equivalent of M48 Prussian ( same size ) is bit wider then later model and as Alan said , is not easy to find .

          ... and something to add- there are 2 types of the pre 1895 colonials - straight crown (yours) and the older one with slanting crown sides
