These came on 2 medal bars from a collection I bought a few years ago. They were IDed here as fake, so I removed them. Just found them in a box so I thought I would post them as a reference.

Gary, it is the details of the lettering and the background. And based on originals I have with exposed pins, the angle of the ends.

At this point I have more than 25 medal bars with Franco-Prussian campaign bars and none are like these two fakes.Willi

Here are some removed originals. These came with an 1870 EKII from what appears to have been a disasembled medal bar. Have no idea why someone would take apart a nice medal bar, but they did. Also have the 25th Jubilee clasp.Willi

Comparison of the original and fake Paris bar. While obviously there are variants of each original bar with subtle differences, the fakes are unmistakable. Something I knew nothing about several years ago.Willi

I heard or read somewhere that people used to disassemble medals bars because they could get more for the medals individually rather than selling the whole bar.
