Just spotted this US marine pilot insignia . The MM on reverse caught my eye. I wonder if this was the same as the BB&Co related to the Turkish stars ?

Hi Ferg!
That would be Bastian Bros. Co., Rochester, NY. First used around 1909. (according to Mrs.Google http://asiteforme.tripod.com/Marks-BB ).
B.B. & Co is supposedly a german firm - but as far as I´m informed - up to today no one has a clue who and where it has been.
And note the "&" : That means "B.B. and Compagnie", describing - as a special legal term - a firm consisting at least out of two people.
Whereas I consider the "B.B. Co." as an simple american abbreviation for the Bastian Brothers Company - whom I think to be quite unlikely to produce ottoman WW1-insignia...
just my two cents
regards
Hagrid
