    Erkennungsmarke

Showing here a "dogtag" which may be WWI vintage. It has been questioned and suspected of being a fake. Please see here, starting with post #6:

    Feedback will be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    John

Not that I did not believe your feedback, but I only asked again because of the request by another WAF member...quote "Could you post it in the imperial forum for authenticity check?" unquote.

Now we know for sure! :-) Thanks, naxos.

Thanks for posting! I am the one who doubts the dog tag due to the fact that it looks like it was stamped by a drunk German. Look here http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru....php?t=1027472

You can clearly see that the characters are aligned on alignement lines. The fact that the unit is highly desirable and that the name is public information let all my alarm bells ring.

However I can be wrong but I do not believe that these where stamped liked this.

Thank you "ODW" for posting your research on this soldier's item. I appreciate that very much.
