            Hi Wim,

Yes, ticks all the boxes in one go: a very nice textbook EK1 in great condition, in it's case, in the outer carton and named to boot!

Watch out Imperial EKs are a very slippery slope. Once you start, you CAN NOT stop!

The catsch/hook is probably period replaced. So far as I can see!

Looks like an early KO? Core is very nicely defined and nice matt black paint. Could it be a cast core?

                  Hi Rich,

It may be a nice and earlier KO, but KOs are not early crosses. I've seen paperwork indicating KO was awarded some big contracts in 1917. Most, if not all, would be mid to late war with pressed steel cores (like Wim's example).

                    Thanks Mike.

I've been wondering of there could be any examples of KO with cast core but sounds like that would be impossible given their late entry in EK1 manufacturing. Was always hoping to see a really crisp one instead of the typical bland core, shoddy paintwork and featureless frames. This one isn't so bad.

It looks like it is vaulted?

                        No, it is not vaulted.

                            Nice set Wim!

On the topic of cores, here's an example of a KO marked EK2 with what appears to be a cast core.

                            Regards,
