This is a big rarity of imperial German badges. This air gunner badges are the rarest of all makers. This maker is one of few who produce the whole raqnge of aviation badges incl. navy.

I love the badges of this maker. This have a distinctive design and great Details.

          Kind regards
          Alex

            Hi Ferg!
Just for my understanding (for it´s not visible on the picture):
Is there a square punch on that badge somewhere?

That would be the kiss of death for my private little theory that this maker used the "square" on it´s non-precious-metal pieces only...
The silver ones had a purity punch on the body of the badge or a little plate with it attached additionally.

Or does one of you experts have ever seen a silver one with a square punch?

            Regards
            Hagrid

Alex, I have never seen a commemorative pilot badge by this maker ,maybe that was the only one they did not produce .
Hagrid, this badge does not carry a square punch mark.

Hi Hagrid, your theory nearly checks out . In the most part you seem correct. Here is a silver Bavarian pilot that has the square punch , not silver marked but checked as being 800 purity. And another one ,sew on version with original box .

These are RRRare Ferg, thanks for showing!
Hagrid, your theory checks out for me, the square punch maker also produced the WWI Bulgarian pilot badge and observer badge, never seen the punch mark on them and the 800 or 935 purity stamp together, as a matter of fact I don’t recall seeing one of these badges bearing the square punch stamp at all (will have to check my database), although they are definitely by this maker.
