    Pilot badge on cigarette case

I was wondering if it is possible to tell if this a period badge soldered to this case long time ago or some known fake "upgraded" the case?

Those the only pics I have now.

    Thank you!

Looks like a good, steel stamped issue type.

It looks quite convincing with the remains of the silvering around the edge of the badge ( on the case ) . The badge is a good one from what I can see . I would think it was ok.

            Thank you guys!
How common was it, to attach awards to cigarette cases?
And how one would value it, badge is kind of "damaged" no pin and catch assembly, but attached to the case, so about 50% of undamaged one would be fair?

I have a very similar one that I got from an estate while in Germany about 40 years ago. I believe it to be completely period from either WWI or perhaps 20s-30s, impossible to nail down exactly. I think a good number were made as either gifts to pilots or remembrance items for former pilots, they are not common now. I would value the item at somewhere close to what the badge on it would bring if intact and separate. I think we see maybe 25-50 badges for every case so decorated, that seems more than fair

Got this with some other cases in the package deal, some aluminum ones - I have been told were made by POW, but I am not sure, specially the wooden one looks like fantasy secret box, someone spend some time making it, but those for other sections of the forum.

All very nice and by what I can see, original.

The one you feature is a classic WWI design that I have seen multiple times with different themes or applications to the lid, but with the same “dent” texture and internal spring retainers.
The aluminum could be POW but also (my guess) field made on LW airfields by mechanics and the like for recreation.
