I would like to present Militär-Verdienstkreuz 1864 .
IMO everything is fine,
but it's always better to be sure.
Gold plated silver ,and W 938 mark.weight 17 g.

That's a good looking cross, but what makes you think it's for 1864?

This award was donated by Wilhelm I on 27 February 1864.

True, started out as the Militaer-Ehrenzeichen I. Klasse, then later the Militaer-Verdienstkreuz. From the markings I would date this one to the first war period. Really great item.

I see nothing wrong with it.

According to the information found, the cross was made in gold until 1906 marking H, 1914-18 in gold-plated silver marking W.
