    Wagner PLM

    Hi Guys,

Please would you be so kind as to give me your thoughts on this cross? It has some cross hatching to the feathers which would indicate at best between wars manufacture I would suppose or possibly a complete reproduction?

The metal appears to be silver which is gilded and it has the W scratch mark to bottom arm.

Many thanks in advance for your help

    Kind regards

    Patrick

As also noted in the description: "it has the W scratch mark to bottom arm"

            Hi Gents,

Cross-hatching isn't necessarily a problem for late war Wagner PlMs, the technique seems to have been fairly commonly applied to help get back some of the feather pattern texture being lost to die wear.

This cross does not look die-struck to me, though, least as far as one can tell at the scale of the photos. There seem to be flaws which shouldn't be there and a lack of flaws which should. The finish work on the eagles also does not look up to par for even a post-war Wagner, either.

From what can see, "two bits" would be suggest very wary of this!

            Best

            Jim
