"New" EK I variant "backplate cross"

After being very skeptical at first....I am now almost convinced that this cross is a production version. The cross has a generic core, so called "slanted W core" and has a 800 mark beneed the needle hook and on the needle. I saw one for sale and before I bought it, I compaired the cross with the crosses in this thread:

I am very curious what you think about this?

This attachment style is well known on Knauer made Oldenburg FA crosses.

I always believed that these were period repairs but I've seen
so many that are nearly identical, I'm leaning more towards
thinking that these were made this way.

      Nice cross

          Nice cross
I also believe that they are made this way. I have seen at least two identical crosses!

          Glad you like it too

Also one important perception......the cross has almost no traces of wear.....so IMO a repair does not fit with this cross!

I've got the same thoughts about this exact cross.

However it's good to keep in mind that many repairs have a plate where the replacement catch or hinge is soldered on. But these are rarely identic to each other.

I have two trains of though on this..

The cross and the pin are marked 800 and each marking is different, suggesting the pin is replaced

Or... they bought the parts in (or partially completed crosses minus hinge/catch) where the frame was already marked 800 and assembled the cross with their own hinge/pin/catch style.

Indeed the cross and the pin are marked 800 and each marking is different. But this applies to all crosses shown here, so this is again a similarity IMO.

There is a slight difference in the shape of the needles. So with your second thought, you could be on the right track!

You are right, there are many crosses with a rapair plate but they do not have these same similarities, that is IMO the difference with a repaired cross!

Production version probably made by Juncker in my opinion. I also have one or two of these.

Do you think Juncker because of the frame?
Could you show one those crosses for compare?

It's the frame, the construction and the marks.

There is a thread somewhere in which I laid out this theory in more detail, I will see if I can find it.

                        Here are a few more.

I also participated in this thread but I missed the last opinions about this specific cross! Very interesting, thank you for sharing and the pictures
