    Medal Bar & EKII Opinions

    Hello,

I just bought this off the estand and now that it's in hand I have some concerns. I recently became interested in Imperial stuff and this is my first medal bar so I have a lot to learn. The seller admitted that this is not his area of expertise either and he expressed his concerns since the bar sat on the estand so long. In hindsight I should have asked that it be discussed prior to purchasing but I tend to get excited and sometimes the cart gets ahead of the horse.

The first thing I noticed was the EK seems to lack the details I'm used to seeing. After talking a closer look I realized it's been repainted.

I also thought it was strange to see such a rough EK next to a stone mint Hindenburg Cross but for all I know this could be normal on medal bars.

Something else I thought could be worth mentioning is that the Bavarian Merit Cross is mounted before the EK. Are the two interchangeable?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!
    Kirby

Nothing wrong with that bar, although I think the EK is a later Spangenstueck. The precedence is also in line with a Bavarian, they liked to give precedence on their awards over the EK.

Can we see a better picture of the first medal? Right now it concerns me. The enamel looks poorly done. Precedence is wrong for me as this is post 1935 bar.

Thank you both for your comments. Additional pics as requested.

The surface of both the enamel and metal are uneven. I did my best to show it but I have to use my phone for this right now so picture quality isn't great.

Thank you both for taking the time to comment it is appreciated.

Something else I wanted to mention is that the precedence of the ribbon bar does not match that of the medal bar. The last and second to last being reversed. For this reason I assume these two pieces don't belong together. Would you agree?
            Thank you

The quality of MVK's varies hugely, I have no problem with anything regarding this set, precedence or otherwise.

With the new photos I feel this is fine. The MVK and EK are probably later pieces but not reproductions.

A late and proud Bavarian Bar!
I've got lots to learn and always appreciate the help.

                  Thank you

Are these any markings on the back of MKV2 swords? There were five manufacturers of the awarded pieces, but not all crosses were marked.

Here two examples of marking: D for Deschler and GH for Gebrüder Hemmerle

                    regards
                    Tomasz

                      Hi Tomasz,

It's hiding very well but I can see one letter "W". I can tell there is at least one more letter but can't make it out. Possibly Weiss & Co? I did my best to photograph it. Thank you for asking.

Hi, yes W.Co. is for Weiss & Company. The signature is often partially stamped only or hard to read.

                        regards
                        Tomasz
