    Cased engraved EKI for opinions

Greetings all, a friend seeks opinions on this item, particularly the engraving. Apologies for the indifferent telephone photos. All comments are welcome.

Cross and case, good one lookers, period engraving looks promising but always difficult to authenticate

I recall seeing such a similar engraved style, among other dfferent one's during the early to mid 1990's. Manion's was one of them. They did raise a debate back then due to numbers of them suddenly showing up on the market. Most had rank, name, unit, and some with a location on the back. Wish I had kept track of them.

The cross is nice privately purchased Victoria D.R.G.M. pinback type. The case is period as well.

Agree with the above about the cross and case. The case is a early war style.
I like the engraving style. I just get a bit nervous anytime I see "Verdun"
on anything as it is probably the most used word by those who want to
              upgrade an otherwise ordinary cross.

Thanks to all who commented. Although there does not appear to be ironclad consensus RE: the engraving, presuming all is correct what would the approximate value be for this set?

Always hard to impossible to authenticate unless you have "rock solid" provenance and you will still have questions. My question on this one and it may just be the pictures but..... around the catch and hinge it almost looks like it may have been cleaned with patina in the tougher to reach areas. "If real" this may not make it bad and it could even be natural but will draw questions. You don't want questions so you better buy it very reasonably. JMO!

I like this set, and have no problem with the engraving, super piece.
